The district of Guntur, as well as its nearby areas in Andhra Pradesh, are known for Chillies cultivation. Earlier, the chilies were transported to Bangladesh by road in small quantities. However, during the nationwide lockdown, the farmers started to move these dry chillies by Railway.

The train carried 384 tonnes of chilli valuing Rs 18 lakh. The farmers are saving Rs 2392 per tonne as now the transportation costs only Rs 4,608 compared to Rs. 7000 earlier. Thanks to the South Central Railway.
